Housing and Transportation
There are several temporary housing options available to cancer patients and their families while at the Kimmel Cancer Center for treatment. Some are located within walking distance to the hospital and others are located nearby in downtown Baltimore and the surrounding area. Some facilities will accept reservations in advance based on availability and others operate with a waiting list policy. There are also leasing options available for those who are considering relocating to Baltimore. For more information, contact the Housing Referral Service at (410) 614-6527. This service can assist patients and families with housing at one of two residential facilities, the Joanne Rockwell Memorial House and the Hackerman-Patz House, located near the Kimmel Cancer Center.
The Residential Care Program consists of two homes, the Joanne Rockwell Memorial House and The Hackerman-Patz House. Located near the Kimmel Cancer Center, they each serve as a "home away from home" for families touched by cancer. Comprised of 20 guest rooms, these houses have a supportive atmosphere and a low nightly rate of $46.00. These two houses bring families together and allow them to share common experiences and problems, to learn from each other, and to gain strength from knowing they do not have to face the challenges of cancer alone. For more information about the Residential Care Program, please call (410) 955-2304.
The Resource and Transportation Coordinator attends to patient's transportation needs including shuttles to and within the East Baltimore medical campus. For more information, call (410) 955-6549. |
